Volunteer Money ManagerAs a trained bill payer, a Money Management volunteer assists an elderly individual by developing a simple budget, sorting mail, writing checks, and balancing a checkbook. The elder makes all the decisions and retains check-signing authority. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone, even a very busy person, to help an elderly community member in a very important way.Volunteer OmbudsmenVolunteer ombudsmen visit and listen to residents' concerns as well as problem-solve. Many residents of long-term care facilities sometimes have little or no contact with the outside world and some have few visitors. An ombudsman volunteer who visits regularly can make a huge difference in the quality of life of a resident. |

| How you help | We could not possibly fulfill our mission without the help of our more than 100 volunteers. Our volunteers help the elderly have human connection and handle simple tasks that give their life meaning. |

| About us | On an annual basis, GLSS delivers a broad range of in-home assistance services to over 1,500 home care clients, and provides over 300,000 meals to 1,100 seniors, most of whom are homebound. The agency is also the MBTA’s contractor for the North Territory of “The RIDE”—serving 23 cities and towns north of Boston—providing over 700,000 rides annually to disabled persons of all ages. Some of our programs—The Kiosk for Living Well™, the Women’s and Family Abuse Program, and Options Counseling—serve adults of all ages in 23 cities and towns throughout the North Shore and on Cape Ann. |
