Mentoring VolunteerThe Mentoring Program at EEH matches adult mentors with middle school youth who have been selected by EEH staff over the course of a year. Mentoring takes place as an extension of the Middle-School After-School Program. Time is spent with youth at the program site, and additional opportunities are provided for activities in the community, in the workplace, or other appropriate locations.Farmer's Market VolunteerEast End House brings fresh produce and canned foods, as well as entertainment, to low-income housing complexes for seniors and people with disabilities. Volunteers will assist in all aspects of the Farmer's Market, including transporting food, loading and unloading, set-up, bagging and handing out food, break-down and clean-up.Food Pantry VolunteerFood Pantry Volunteers will assist in greeting consumers, helping consumers fill out forms, stocking food pantry, packing grocery bags, unpacking food deliveries, cleaning the pantry, and taking inventory.Community ProgramsRun a workshop in an area of expertise; ie. dance, yoga, etc. Teach or assist in adults’ computer classes. Run tax workshops for community members. Help out at special events.STEM VolunteerSTEM Volunteers will contribute to East End House’s School Age and Middle School Programs by connecting with children and youth during afterschool hours. As professionals or students from the STEM sector, STEM Volunteers will share their knowledge, interest, and work with young people.School Age Program VolunteerThe School Age Program serves children kindergarten through fifth grade from many of the Cambridge Public Schools. Assist group leaders with activities, tutor, help with homework and literacy, or run special workshops on STEM, art, computers, and more.Middle School Program Homework Room VolunteerHomework room volunteers will work with children in a variety of grades by explaining assignments, providing direct support and encouragement, and assisting staff in managing the daily operations of the room.Administration VolunteerHelp the East End House administration by relieving receptionists, answering phones, performing data entry, and assisting with mass mailings.Child CareAssist teachers with classroom activities. Read, sing, play an instrument, arts and crafts, play games, or share a talent with toddlers and preschoolers. |
